Description
TREKFINDER lift kit for the VW T5 Transporter with 4WD – approx. +30 mm – reinforced - Front axle linear/rear axle progressive coil springs – for vehicles with no or moderate payload – not suitable for vehicles with a winch
IMPORTANT/PLEASE NOTE No. 1:
The heights we specify are approximate!
Height specifications generally depend on many factors that can only be roughly estimated in advance.
Tolerances/manufacturing characteristics of the springs ex-works (rough roads, etc.), fatigue/condition/age of the current springs, differences in fitted engines, equipment and payloads, measurement deviations, air pressures and so on all influence the specifications regarding height or level compensation.
Our classification of suspension systems according to the respective bus models and the resulting height increases are based on empirical data derived from hundreds of sales and ongoing testing over recent years!
The accuracy or ‘hit rate’ of our height specifications, compared with the measured values of the modified buses, is over 90%....
In practice, this means the following (which, incidentally, applies to all makes, vehicles and models worldwide, etc.):
> Deviations of approx. +/- 1 cm from our height specifications are entirely normal for any type of height adjustment involving spring replacement
> Differences in height gain between the front and rear axles as a result of the modification are entirely normal (front/rear level)
> Any compensation you require can, for example, be achieved using spring spacers from the aftermarket; we do not stock these spring spacers and have NEVER needed them on our vehicles.
> If you wish to measure the ride heights, you must also meticulously record the heights before the conversion and mark the reference points on the wheel arch (e.g. using adhesive tape and a plumb line) – be sure to measure from the ground and not from the wheel hub - Take the measurements several times and note down the average value! The vehicle should be unladen and standing on a flat, level concrete or tarmac surface!
> After the conversion, and before taking any measurements, the bus should be driven so that the springs can
“settle” > It is definitely helpful and recommended to take photographs of the bus before and after the conversion, in addition to taking the measurements (with the bus against a neutral background and surface, such as on an asphalted car park in front of a wall). Side-view photos taken at a 90° angle to the vehicle, with the camera at a height of approx. 100 cm from the ground (crouch down) and at a distance of approx. 10 m from the vehicle would be ideal for drawing a more reliable conclusion after the modification (ensure the same shooting conditions before and after the modification!).
> If no measurement data or before-and-after photos of the modification are available, there will be no basis for discussion later on, and an objective assessment of the change in height will be impossible and cannot be carried out!!!
> Our spring kit is NOT a coil spring suspension system where you can adjust the height to the nearest millimetre via stepless adjustment!
> If you are unsure or inexperienced, we would ask you: DO NOT
order lift springs from us... this type of lift can and will always only be specified approximately.
We ask for your understanding!
IMPORTANT/PLEASE NOTE No. 2:
Lift springs are not, and must not be, any longer or higher than standard springs when removed!
Comparing the heights of springs when removed from the vehicle says nothing about the expected lift height.
In other words, lift springs are generally not as high as standard springs and do not need to be.
If a lift spring is shorter or not as high as the standard spring when removed, it will still raise the vehicle (e.g. VW Bus) higher once fitted!
Please do not compare springs when removed, nor draw conclusions about the expected height or handling characteristics when fitted based on differences in height!
If you are interested, you can compare the dimensions of the springs we supply with those explicitly listed in the TÜV parts certificate for each spring. You will then find that the specifications are identical to those of our springs.
Information:
- Not suitable for vehicles with level control or air suspension
- Use in vehicles with a standard increased rear axle load when towing a trailer is possible
-
There are no technical objections to the use of special wheel and tyre combinations, provided the following conditions are met:
o Parts certificates or general operating permits are available
for the relevant wheel/tyre combination o No special spring travel limiters are prescribed due to requirements in these wheel certificates - Operation with a trailer coupling is permitted if the prescribed minimum height of the coupling ball, at the vehicle’s permissible gross weight, above the road surface (in accordance with DIN 74058) is 350 mm, up to a maximum of 420 mm
