Customer enquiry >>> our replies:
Hello, We require a reinforced spring for the rear axle of our Jimny FJ emergency vehicle. Is this kit permitted without a registered winter kit? Is it supplied with EC type-approval, or does it need to be registered? Regards, A.
>>>
1. The winter service equipment forms the basis for type approval; the spring set may remain in the vehicle whilst the equipment is not fitted, and the vehicle will still drive comfortably without it :)
2. The spring set is supplied exclusively with a TÜV parts certificate, i.e. the following rules apply:
Notes for the vehicle owner:
The modification must be carried out and confirmed without delay.
The modification carried out will invalidate the vehicle’s type approval unless the modification approval required under Section 19(3) of the StVZO is carried out and confirmed without delay, or unless the specified conditions are not met!
Once the technical modification has been carried out, the vehicle must be presented without delay, together with this parts certificate, to an officially recognised expert or inspector at a technical inspection centre, or to a test engineer at an officially recognised monitoring organisation, for the prescribed modification approval to be carried out and confirmed.
Carrying documents:
Once the modification approval has been carried out, proof of this must be carried with the vehicle documents and presented to the relevant authorities on request; this requirement ceases to apply once the vehicle documents have been amended.
Correction of vehicle documents:
The vehicle owner must apply to the relevant registration authority for the correction of the vehicle documents in accordance with the specifications set out in the modification approval. Further details can be found in the modification approval.
